UBACC
The Bioanalysis and Quality Control Unit serves a dual purpose: providing analytical support to other CQAB areas and offering analytical services to public and private research groups, as well as developing new validated analytical methods and isolating trace compounds for elucidation.
The unit has extensive experience in mass spectrometry, equipped with liquid chromatographs coupled with triple quadrupole, orbitrap (HRMS), and single quadrupole detectors, as well as gas chromatographs coupled with electron impact mass spectrometry.
The laboratory works with biological samples for metabolomic studies and pharmacokinetic studies of drugs and active ingredients.
The entire set of laboratories occupies an area of about 300 m². Within this module, there is the Agilent laboratory, occasionally used as a demonstration lab under an agreement with the commercial company. This module also houses the chemical goods receiving area and the solvent storage (APQ), which has an area of about 25 m² and is conditioned and certified to store flammable and volatile solvents up to a total volume of 3,000 L.
It includes a chromatography laboratory with seven HPLCs for teaching the Master’s in Chromatographic Techniques in the Chemical-Pharmaceutical sector, with practical sessions in the pharmaceutical industry and API manufacturers. These are used for drug analysis and monitoring research synthesis projects.
